The orange-Yellow oval Pitahaya is a cousin of the prickly pear. Its golden skin has a delicate sweet taste and is extremely refreshing. The Pitaya is known to be the Queen of cacti. Its skin is dented with outgrowths ending with thorns that are removed during the harvest. Its white and translucent flesh contains a multitude of small black seeds that have digestive properties. We enjoy the Pitaya very fresh with just a tee spoon. They also fit in fruit salads or cocktails ornament.

Golden Passion Fruit / Granadilla

From the Passiflora family, the Granadilla is gracefully round and covered with a firm and orange cracking shelf. Its gelatinous pulp and very juicy and contains lots of small soft seeds, it offers a very refreshing aroma and sweet flavor. Its properties make it an excellent fruit to taste as it is. Its pulp is appreciated for jams and the making of many desserts. Half a cup of Granadilla provides 33% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C. This vitamin helps support the immune system. It also helps with wound healing, and the production of collagen and it increases the amount of iron that our bodies can absorb from the plants.

Physalis also known as aguaymanto or uvilla is a round, yellow, sweet and small fruit, similar to a grape. It comes from South America, especially Peru (its scientific name is Physalis peruviana). It is used especially in food preserves and jams, although it is delicious simply raw. The Physalis is a great source of vitamin A, B and C, fiber, potassium, phosphorus, iron and zinc. Another member of the passionflower family, the Maracuyá is the yellow fruit bigger than the gulupa. Its shell is wrinkled and hard, containing the delicious dark yellow pulp inside. It is delicious in juice, desserts and jams due to its balance between acid and sweet. It’s a great source of vitamin A, vitamin C and minerals like potassium, phosphorus and magnesium.
